"Compared with the slick images and seamless technique
of modern political advertising, Links posters are true to the spirit
of Soviet agitprop and photomontage, invented by John Heart€eld and Hannah
Hoch in Weimar Germany to warn against Hitlers rise.

Warnings Exhibition: Sample Images & Gallery Shots from Over 40 montages
exhibited from 1989-2005
"1938: If Fascism Comes." I developed
Warnings
through two years of historic research looking at how political parties
used controlling women's reproductive healthcare to advance their own
agendas.
"Under the Order," 2005. Piece addressing the tactics of former Kansas Attorney General Phil Kline who n 2004 subpoenaed the records of 90 women and girls who in 2003 underwent late-term abortions at Comprehensive Health, which is operated by Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri in Overland Park, Kan., and Women's Health Care Services in Wichita, Kan., saying there is probable cause that each record contains evidence of a felony. While he lost re-electin in 2006, in 2008, ant-choice citizen's groups are convening "grand juries" to seek criminal charges against the clinics. EXTRA PRINTS AVAILABLE for donation to a Kansas clinic or activist group.
"1931/1989: We Are Marching," 1989.
Warnings
highlights the words of activists for women's rights from the 1920's
and 1930's. One goal was to bring to the general public the stories of
women activists buried in history books. This piece was one of the first
in the series. *** OFFSET POSTERS, 17x22" ,AVAILABLE for sale, $5/each.
"2002:
Health History," 2003.
Warnings addresses power
& control in reproductive healthcare. This poster is a response to
economic exploitation of donors and eugenic trends in the surrogate mom/egg
"donor" industry.
"1936/1990:Serving
Cheeseburgers," 1993.
Warnings examines complex
factors driving the anti-abortion movement gained through attending their
events, reading their literature and conducting interviews.
"Self-Portrait
with Supreme Court," 1992
Created in Photoshop1.0 on a Mac II. Based on an actual nightmare
I experienced shortly after the US Supreme Court's "Rust vs. Sullivan"
ruling which restricted speech of medical personnel regarding access to
reproductive health care.
Warnings has an intentional low-tech-style
graphic look.
"Doctor/Patient:2005". Every year I create
new images to add to this exhibition.
